Cedarbluff Shooting Leaves Six Dead in Mississippi

On the night of January 9, 2026, the quiet town of Cedarbluff, Mississippi, was shattered by a wave of violence that would leave six people dead and an entire community reeling. The suspect, 24-year-old Daricka Moore, moved with calculated brutality across multiple locations, targeting both family and acquaintances in what authorities describe as a series of deliberate attacks.

The first tragedy unfolded at a mobile home on David Hill Road in western Clay County. Moore’s father, 67-year-old Glenn Moore, his brother, 33-year-old Quinton Moore, and his uncle, 55-year-old Willie Ed Guines, were all shot in the head. Neighbors reported hearing a series of gunshots in quick succession shortly before 7 p.m., prompting the first 911 call at 6:56 p.m. Authorities would later confirm that all three men were killed instantly.

From there, Moore stole his brother’s Ford F-150 Lightning and drove a short distance to a cousin’s home on Blake Road. There, the horror escalated. Moore forced his way inside and attempted a sexual assault. A seven-year-old girl in the house was shot in the head and killed. Another younger child was threatened with a firearm, though she survived, possibly due to a misfire or the shooter hesitating. The children’s mother and a third child were present during the attack, enduring the terror firsthand. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with screams and shouting echoing into the night.

The spree did not end there. Moore allegedly drove to the Apostolic Church of the Lord Jesus on Siloam-Griffin Road, where he broke into a residence behind the church. There, he shot and killed the pastor, Barry Bradley, and the pastor’s brother, Samuel Bradley, both of whom were executed at point-blank range. Authorities noted that some members of the Moore family were affiliated with this church, though it remains unclear if this influenced the attacks. After the killings, Moore stole one of the Bradley vehicles and fled the scene.

Law enforcement pursued Moore for several hours before apprehending him at a police roadblock at the intersection of Pine Grove Road and Joe Myers Road around 11:24 p.m., just five hours after the first 911 call. Officers found him in possession of both a rifle and a handgun. Clay County authorities assured residents that the threat had ended and that the community was safe.

All six were pronounced dead at the scene, each having suffered fatal gunshot wounds to the head. The state medical examiner has been performing autopsies to confirm the details of the killings.

Daricka Moore, a 24-year-old Cedarbluff resident with no prior criminal record, is facing a litany of charges, including three counts of capital murder, three counts of first-degree murder, attempted murder, attempted sexual battery, burglary, and motor vehicle theft. Prosecutors have indicated that the three first-degree murder charges may be upgraded to capital murder, and the district attorney has stated that the death penalty is likely to be pursued. Moore pleaded not guilty to all charges on January 12 and is currently being held without bail.

Authorities are still investigating the motive behind the attacks, though early indications suggest the shootings were targeted rather than random acts of violence. For the residents of Cedarbluff, the events of January 9 have left a lasting scar—a community mourning family members, neighbors, and local leaders, all while trying to process the sheer horror of a single night that turned familiar streets into a scene of unimaginable tragedy.
