On June 7, 1992, the lives of three women from Springfield, Missouri, took a baffling turn, leaving behind a trail of unanswered questions that still haunt investigators to this day. Suzanne "Suzie" Streeter, Stacy McCall, and Suzie's mother, Sherrill Levitt, vanished without a trace from Levitt's home, leaving behind all their personal belongings and sparking one of the most perplexing missing persons cases in the region's history.
Sherrill Levitt, a beloved 47-year-old cosmetologist, shared a close bond with her daughter Suzie, 19, and her daughter's friend Stacy McCall, 18. Suzie and Stacy had just graduated from Kickapoo High School the day before their disappearance, celebrating with friends before heading to Suzie's home on East Delmar Street to spend the night.
The events of that night remain shrouded in mystery. The last confirmed sighting of Suzie and Stacy was around 2:00 a.m. when they left a graduation party. They were expected at a friend's house but changed plans and headed to Suzie's home instead. The following morning, when friends and family failed to reach them, concern grew.

Janelle Kirby, a friend of Suzie and Stacy, went to check on them with her boyfriend. They found the front door unlocked, the porch light shattered, and no sign of the women. Inside, they discovered Suzie and Sherrill's dog, Cinnamon, distressed but no trace of the women. Another unsettling detail emerged when a strange and disturbing call came through, adding to the eerie atmosphere.
As the hours passed, worry turned to panic, and the police were notified. The scene at the house revealed no obvious signs of a struggle, but the broken porch light hinted at a possible disturbance. Strangely, all the women's belongings, including their cars and purses, were left behind, indicating an abrupt departure.
Further investigation revealed that Sherrill Levitt had been last heard from around 11:15 p.m. the previous night, speaking with a friend on the phone about painting an armoire. This detail added to the puzzle, suggesting that whatever happened occurred sometime after this conversation.
Despite extensive investigations and numerous leads, the case remained unsolved. In 1997, a convicted kidnapper and robber named Robert Craig Cox claimed to have knowledge of the women's fate, suggesting they had been murdered and their bodies disposed of, never to be found. However, doubts lingered about Cox's credibility, and the case remained mired in uncertainty.
Over the years, tips and theories have surfaced, but none have provided concrete answers. In 2007, a tantalizing lead suggested the women's bodies might be buried beneath a hospital parking garage, but authorities deemed it unsubstantiated.

As of 2023, the whereabouts of Suzie Streeter, Stacy McCall, and Sherrill Levitt remain unknown, leaving behind a community still grappling with the unanswered questions and the haunting mystery of the Springfield Three. Despite the passage of time, the hope for closure and the truth endures, driving ongoing efforts to unravel this enigmatic puzzle.
